He graduated from the University of Santo Tomas (UST), cum laude, with a degree in A.B. Political Science. He took up law at the San Beda College of Law, Mendiola, where he was admitted to its highly coveted Legal Aid Clinic. Atty. Lim graduated in the top 100 of his class, passing the Philippine Bar immediately after earning his law degree. Thereafter, he served as an associate in Gargantiel, Ilagan and Atanante Law Firm, handling corporate, tax, criminal, administrative and civil cases. He then transferred to Mercantile Insurance and served as its chief legal counsel and head of the bonds department. He maintained speciality in insurance bonds, insurance claims, criminal and tax cases. Atty. Lim likewise served as the company's corporate secretary. Since then, he has handled several cases involving land titles, ejectment proceedings, insurance claims, trademarks and copyrights, tax claims and refunds, collection cases, succession rights and arbitration. Presently, he serves as the Chief of Staff of Robert Coyiuto and head of the bonds department of Prudential Guarantee, one of the top non-life insurance companies in the Philippines.
