After receiving her bachelor's degree in A.B. Mass Communications from St. Scholastica's College, Manila, Atty. Cervantes worked as a writer, radio program host and producer for the St. Scholastica's Institute of Women's Studies and Kodao Productions, an independent multimedia outfit.
Being an active advocate of women's rights, she later joined the Gabriela Women's Party and served as a legislative officer in the office of then Congresswoman Emi De Jesus.
She took up law at the San Beda University, Mendiola, where she became editor-in-chief of "The Barrister", the official law journal of the college. She also became a member of the San Beda Legal Aid Bureau, the insitution's official legal aid clinic.
Before joining the firm, she served in the Public Attorney's Office with the rank of Public Attorney II. For several years, she built her career and maintained her specialty in litigation, criminal law and family law.
Currently, she serves as the assistant corporate secretary and in-house corporate counsel of Mercantile Insurance, one of the top non-life insurance companies in the Philippines, with extensive experience on merger, acquisitions, corporate due diligence, corporate house-keeping and compliances, including insurance law and arbitration.
